Teaching Experience
I have more than 15 years of teaching experience, including five years as ESL faculty member and
Composition and Rhetoric Instructor to undergraduate and post graduate students at University of South Carolina (USC). During my five years in China, I taught subjects such as IB DP Language Acquisition and Literature, A Level English, IGCSE English, IELTS and TOEFL.
Beyond the traditional classroom boundaries, at USC I served as Pedagogical Technology Coordinator, as a judge for the International Teaching Assessment (ITA) Workshop, and as a trainer for the English ACCESS Microscholarship Teacher Training Program.
As a teacher, I aim to deliver culturally responsive instruction and solid teaching to multilingual learners. Solid teaching means providing effective and engaging content-rich subject-specific lesson plans that also strengthen creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Teaching Philosophy
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. For the mind does not require filling like a bottle, but rather, like wood, it only requires kindling to create in it an impulse to think independently and an ardent desire for the truth.” — Plutarch
