Language Progress

From Nursery B

Evan has demonstrated remarkable improvement and growth throughout the term, showcasing a commendable development in various areas. From enhancing his independence in daily tasks to actively participating in class activities with increased focus and concentration, Evan's progress is truly noteworthy. His ability to comprehend longer sentences, engage in conversations, and incorporate English words into his communication highlights his evolving language skills. While he may benefit from further support in phonics to enhance his understanding of initial sounds and rhymes, Evan's positive attitude and willingness to engage with peers bode well for his continued development. With ongoing guidance and encouragement, Evan is poised for further success and growth in his educational journey.

Progress Across Various Areas

From Nursery B

Neil has made significant strides in his development this term, demonstrating impressive improvement across various aspects. His commitment to following class rules, maintaining concentration, and actively participating in activities reflects a strong dedication to learning and engagement. Neil's progress in social interactions, particularly in expanding his circle of friends and initiating games with peers, showcases his growing confidence and social skills. While he may encounter challenges with stubbornness during play, Neil's creativity in coming up with game ideas and vibrant artwork underscores his imaginative abilities. His independence in daily tasks and colorful expression through drawing highlight his autonomy and artistic flair. It has been a pleasure to witness Neil's growth this term, and I am excited to see him continue to flourish and excel in the future.

From Reserved to Confident
From Year 1A

Caroline has been at BIS since her reception days. When the school term first started, Caroline was very reserved and quiet. She struggled with level 2 phonics and had a hard time with numbers. We took great care to encourage, praise and support her during classes, communicated with her parents to help increase her confidence and in a few months, Caroline is now willing to participate in class, is reading on level 2 (PM Benchmarks), recognizes numbers to 50, has strengthened her phonics and improved great deal blending cvc words. There is a stark contrast to her demeanour from the beginning of term to now and we are so excited to see her happy and confident in school.

From Novice to Confident Learner
From Year 1A

Evelyn joined our class mid-November. When Evelyn first arrived she could not write her name and had almost no foundation in phonics. But through her supportive parents, her hard work, consistency and positive reinforcement during classes, Evelyn now reads on level 2 (PM Benchmarks) and knows half of phase 3 phonics. She went from being quiet in classes, to now, being confident and excited to participate in lessons. It has been amazing to watch this little girl grow and progress so well.

From Level 1 to Level 19 in Three Months

From Year 1A

Keppel has been at BIS since his reception days. When he took his baseline assessment at the beginning of term 1, he had a firm foundation in phonics and numbers and was reading on level 1 of PM Benchmarks. Through strong parental support at home, consistent practice through assigned readings and encouragement in class, Keppel made an astounding jump from level 1 to level 17 in 3 months and as term 2 started, he is now on level 19. Since he excels past the average of his class, differentiation in assignments is critical in providing him with a challenge to help him continue to learn in the classroom.

From Shy to Confident English Language User
From Year 1B

Shin stands out as a prime illustration of progress and diligence within our class. Over the past few months, he has exhibited substantial growth, excelling not only academically but also on a personal level. His commitment to his work has been commendable. Initially, at the onset of the academic year, he presented as a shy and reserved individual. However, he has transformed into a confident English language user both within and outside the classroom setting. One of Shin's notable strengths now lies in his proficiency in reading and writing, particularly in spelling. His dedicated efforts have truly paid off, and we all take pride in his achievements.

A Compassionate Achiever with a Multicultural Background
From YEAR 6

Lyn (Year 6) is one of the most compassionate and well-mannered students that you could meet in life. She is from Australia and has a South Korean heritage. Lyn is an exceptional student who goes above and beyond to help her homeroom teacher and fellow classmates. She recently achieved the highest assessment score for English in Year 6 and the class is very proud of her.

In addition, Lyn enjoys attending extra-curricular art classes and sharing stories about her bunny.
