HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Exciting Halloween Celebrations at BIS
This week, BIS embraced an eagerly anticipated Halloween celebration. Students and faculty showcased their creativity by donning a diverse array of Halloween-themed costumes, setting a festive tone throughout the campus. Class teachers led students in the classic "Trick or Treat" activity, visiting various offices to collect candies, spreading joy and laughter along the way. Adding to the excitement, the headmaster, dressed as Mr. Pumpkin, personally visited each classroom, distributing treats and enhancing the joyful atmosphere of the event.
A highlight was the lively assembly hosted by the kindergarten department, featuring a special performance by music teachers and senior students who played percussion for the little ones. The children delighted in the music, creating an atmosphere of pure enjoyment and happiness.
The Halloween event not only provided an opportunity for all students and staff to showcase their creativity and engage in joyful interactions but also enriched the school's cultural activities. We hope such joyous events create beautiful memories for the children and inspire more creativity and happiness in their lives.
Here's to many more vibrant and enjoyable experiences for the students at BIS in the future!

This month Nursery class have been working on ‘Toys and Stationery’ and the concept of ‘have’.
We have been sharing and talking about our favourite toys. Learning to share and how to communicate during play. We learned that we could take turns and we must be nice and polite when we want a certain item.
We have been enjoying a new game of ‘What’s under the blanket’. Where a student has to guess the toy or stationery that was hiding under the blanket by asking “Do you have a (toy/stationery)?” It is a great way to practice their sentence structures and at the same time putting new vocabulary to use.
We enjoy getting our hands on when we learn. We made a squeezy toy with flour, we used our fingers to trace shapes and numbers on flour and we dug out stationery from the sand tray. It is important for children to develop their motor skills on their hands for stronger grips and better coordination.
At phonics time, we have been listening and differentiating different environmental and instrumental sounds. We learned that our mouth is amazing and can make all these sounds by making different shapes.
For this week, we have been practicing a wonderful song about trick or treat, we love it so much that we sing to it everywhere we go.

What happens in the Y6 class?
A glimpse into our wonder wall:
Every week students are encouraged to be curious and think of wondering questions related to subject content, or interesting observations. This is a teaching method which helps them to be inquirers and inquire into the fascinating things of life.
In English class, we have been focusing on writing and using a technique named, “Hamburger Paragraph Writing”. This provoked curiosity as students could associate their paragraph structure to a delicious hamburger. On September 27th, we had our first Celebration of Learning where students shared their writing journey and progress with others. They celebrated by making and eating their own hamburgers in class.
Y6 book club:
Students focus on giving feedback on their books and reading observations. For example, “How do I connect or relate to some of the characters in the book?”. This helps to become more aware of our reading comprehension.
In mathematics class, students are encouraged to show their critical thinking skills, strategies and share calculations with the class. I often ask students to be a “little teacher” and present their discoveries to the rest of the class.
Student Spotlight:
Iyess is an enthusiastic and likable student who shows remarkable growth and exceptional participation in my class. He leads by example, works hard and has been selected to play for the BIS football team. Last month, he received the Cambridge Learner Attributes award. I’m very proud to be his teacher.

Preparing for Success: Learners Gear Up for End-of-Term Examinations
As the end of the term approaches, upper secondary students in particular at our school are diligently making preparations for their upcoming examinations. Among the various subjects being tested, iGCSE English as a Second Language holds a significant place. To ensure their success, learners are engaging in a series of practice sessions and mock papers, with the official exam scheduled for the end of the course.
Over the course of this week and the next, students are immersing themselves in all test types to evaluate their proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Remarkably, they have found particular enjoyment in the speaking test preparation. Perhaps it is because this segment allows them to showcase not only their oral English skills but also their captivating ideas and perspectives on global matters.
These assessments serve as valuable tools for monitoring students' progress and identifying areas of improvement. By analyzing the outcomes of these tests, educators can pinpoint gaps in knowledge, such as grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and address them in future lessons. This targeted approach ensures that learners receive focused attention in areas that require further development, enhancing their overall language proficiency.
The commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by our students during this exam preparation period are truly commendable. They are displaying resilience and determination in their pursuit of academic excellence. It is heartening to witness their growth and the strides they are making to achieve their goals.
As the end-of-term examinations draw near, we encourage all learners to remain steadfast in their studies, seeking support from teachers and classmates whenever needed. With the right mindset and effective preparation, we are confident that our students will shine brightly in their English as a Second Language examinations and beyond.

There's always a first time BIS Football Club.
Thursday, October 26th will be a day to remember.
BIS had for the first time a school representative team.
The kids from BIS F.C traveled to CIS to play a series of friendly matches against our sister school.
The matches were very tight and there was an atmosphere of respect and cordiality between the two teams.
Our youngest players played with determination and personality, they faced kids 2 or 3 years older and were able to stay in the game competing as equals and enjoying the game at all times. The game ended 1-3, all our kids had an active participation in the game, they were able to play in more than one position and understood that the importance is to help the teammates and work together.
The older boys had a very tough opponent in front of them, with a lot of kids from extracurricular soccer clubs. But they were able to impose themselves thanks to the understanding of the game and the serenity to play with spaces.
Team play prevailed, with passing and mobility, as well as defensive intensity to prevent the rivals from attacking our goal.
The game ended 2-1, thus becoming the first victory in the sporting history of BIS.
It is worth mentioning the exemplary behavior of everyone during the trip, on and off the field, where they showed values such as respect, empathy, solidarity and commitment.
We hope that our FC will continue to grow and more kids will have the opportunity to compete and represent the school.
We will continue to look for matches and tournaments to grow and share the sport with other institutions.
GO LIONS!
